When I started writing the poly prompts and had this very clear sense of a V-shaped hierarchical relationship structure for these three, I got lots of people asking me for a fic where the three of them sleep together. I thought I was going to have to write one not connected to the others, but instead I wrote this, taking place the morning after Kurt’s birthday, which I wrote about in the first prompt.
This is very much not these three people moving towards a triad. This is three people who are friends as well as lovers not thinking ahead as much as they should, trying something out and trying to navigate it without disrupting or significantly changing what they already have that already works.
This also doesn’t address fluid agreements which is a conversation they’ve had prior to this but not in preparation for this specific scenario. They are within their rules here, but I do want to do a separate fic on what those rules are because I think it’s important and interesting.
Kurt wakes up slowly, fighting the whole way. He’s overheated, and he feels lazy like it’s keeping him under. He knows as soon as he’s fully conscious he’s just going to feel really, really hungover, so he tightens his arms around Blaine, who is shirtless and sweaty in a way that makes Kurt wonder if the upstairs neighbors randomly turned on the heat for the whole building again.
